Located approximately 9 miles northwest of Hartford off Connecticut Highway 185, the recreation trail is as challenging as it is picturesque. To the west, the trail approaches edges of cliffs, so extreme caution is strongly advised. Less experienced riders should steer clear of (or carefully through) the single track trails.

Both the men's and women's sports teams of the University of Connecticut are known for some great defense, offense and sharply focused three-pointers. Get a look at some of Hartford’s best scenery from behind a set of handlebars when you hit the West Hartford Reservoir bike trail. The recreation trail is located about 8 miles west of Hartford and starts off with a fairly steep climb of about 400 feet. From there, cruise along a ridge and take a gradual descent but you will encounter a single-track trail that requires even more attention to assure safety for both you and fellow bikers and walkers on the trail.
